Hari Polavarapu brings a wealth of experience in Equity Research on Wall Street and was part of Institutional Investor’s All America Research Teams across the Technology, Renewable Energy, and Consumer Staples sectors. He previously worked at Deutsche Bank, PaineWebber (UBS), and Auriga USA in equity research roles. He has also worked with BNY Mellon, SolarWorld, and others in management consultancy roles. Hari’s deep experience across multiple industry sectors with a global focus ranging from staples to cyclicals gives him unique perspectives and insights on the structural, secular, and cyclical forces affecting a wide range of industries and the economy.
Hari’s solar research work got industry recognition, and he was the only Wall Street analyst who took a critical stand against China’s destructive trade and competitive practices amidst the U.S.-China solar trade dispute. He was also part of the research team that exposed fraudulent accounting and business practices at Sunbeam-Oster – valued at $5 billion before filing for bankruptcy. Hari is also the author of the book: You Can Fake A Bull Market Only So Much which focuses on the fundamental disconnect in capital markets owing to unsustainable monetary and fiscal policy interventions.
Previously, Hari worked as an industry analyst at Dataquest magazine covering the nascent computer industry in India. Additionally, as a freelance journalist, he also penned viewpoints on the economic, social, cultural, and political evolution of modern India.
Hari received his MA (Honors) in General Studies: Political Science/Economics from Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani, India, and an MBA in Finance from Baruch College at City University of New York (CUNY), New York.
